CHRISTMAS TREE: COLORADO BLUE SPRUCE
The Colorado Blue Spruce tree takes its name from the color of
its needles and its Spruce Family origins. The blue spruce has a very
wide range as shown below.

It's characteristics are ideally suited for Christmas tree
decorations:
• the color is a rich, dark blue-green, with
bluish needle tips
• the foliage is dense, creating a superior
backdrop to Christmas tree decorations
• needle retention is excellent
• branch strength is excellent for holding
larger ornaments
• rich fragrance unique to this tree
Here are 2 pictures of the Blue Spruce Tree.

The natural maximum height range of the Colorado Blue Spruce tree is 100-115
feet, with a top age range of 400+ years. Here is a close-up of the frond
and new-growth needles. Note that the dense needle formation makes an
"ornament hook" a prerequisite for hanging Christmas tree ornaments on this tree.
