CHRISTMAS TREE: VIRGINIA PINE

The Virginia Pine is a descriptor of both the pine family, as well as the region where this species of pine grows.   

It's characteristics are ideally suited to Christmas tree decorating:

Here are 2 pictures of the Virginia Pine.  The photo on the left is a farm raised Virginia Pine tree.  The photo on the right is a naturally occurring Virginia Pine.

The natural maximum height range of the Balsam tree is 35-55 feet.  Here's a close up of the frond.  Note that the broadly reaching fronds create large pockets making branch access easy for Christmas decorations.
