CHRISTMAS TREE: WHITE
SPRUCE
The White Spruce tree name is strictly descriptive: the tree
belongs to the spruce family, a close relative of the blue spruce. The
needles are difficult to differentiate between these two spruce trees.
White spruce is the provincial tree of Manitoba.
It is also the state tree of South Dakota where it is known as the "Black Hills
Spruce Tree".

It's characteristics are well suited for Christmas tree
decorations and ornaments:
• the color is a bluish green
• the foliage is thick, perfect for Christmas tree
ornaments
• needles are stiff, but the tips are blunt
making them essentially prickless
• nice conical shape

The natural maximum height range of the White Spruce is 140
feet. The
